happy
Just now I went shopping with Lish, and we bumped into David Yeo and Daphne Khoo, 2 of the Singapore Idol finalists at the Heeren. They were really friendly and nice about us going up to say hi to them. I didn't know DY was so cute until I saw him in person.. haha.. DAVID YEO IS *MY IDOL*
I watched A Cinderella Story, starring Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray, and it's the sweetest movie ever.. The leads are super good looking and I guess that helps..
But I wonder if it can be true.. Is there really a Prince Charming or Cinderella out there for each of us? Does true love exist? What I got from the movie was to try to be brave, stand up for ourselves and love ourselves, don't let others control our lives.. we have to be in control of our own destiny.. How can we let others take charge of our life and still be happy?
Today I heard on the news about Bhutan measuring their country's development with the GNH index, the Gross National Happiness index. Interesting idea, but I don't think I want my happiness to be measured. It makes the simple bliss of life seem so cold and calculated if everything is measured. One man said that he thought the Bhutanese were happier than people of other nationalities. My guess is it's not the happiness index. It's the way of life, their beliefs and their values. We're just not satisfied with what we have. We could be happy, but we choose to complain and grumble about the smallest things, which prevents us from being happy. Our lives are so fast-paced, so materialistic, that we don't take time to enjoy the little things.. A shopping trip with a friend, meeting someone you haven't seen for a long time, a hug from someone who cares, a smile from a crush... There are so many reasons for us to love life. One day I'll take my own advice and stop complaining, stop driving so fast on the expressway, just slow down, take a look around, and realise how lucky I am.
